ADEAM and Hanako Maeda
Hanako is a native Japanese and she was born in Tokyo. She moved to New York City when she was five. Later on, she attended Columbia College to study Anthropology and Art History. While she was in school, she had several internship opportunities in the fashion industry, which helped her to develop an undying love for fashion.
In 2011, Hanako launched her own fashion brand ADEAM and the first collection. She archives a great success with both of the press and the buyers. Now you can find her line in the USA, Japan, Korea, UK , and online store like ShopBazaar.
The Aesthetic of ADEAM
Hanako’s girl ( who she designs for ) is a minimalist. She is feminine, strong, and intercellular. This is why on all of ADEAM’s runway shows, the models are wearing the simplest makeup and staying with the natural color tone.
Hanako’s design is infused by her two hometowns, New York and Tokyo. Using her Fall/Winter 2014 collection as an example. The collection is inspired by Yasunari Kawabata’s novel, “Snow Country”. Also many of the colors like navy blue, pink with grey, white, are all inspired by Japanese landscape. At the same time, we can see an edgy woman under the soft colors, because of the clean shapes. Her collection always remind me of the busy, on-the-go New York Girls. Hanako continues her colletions with both art and wearability in mind.
